U.N. data on Friday showed the U.A.E.’s unemployment rate surged to a new high of 10.4% on Friday, as the U and other major economies faced their own challenges with the election of President Rodrigo Duterte and the economy’s slow recovery.
The U.K. and Canada also saw their unemployment rates rise.
The Philippines is the only country in the bloc that has not experienced a jobless rate rise since April, and it is the world’s fourth largest economy, ahead of France, Germany and Italy.
The United States, which has been the focus of Duterte’s anti-drug campaign, saw its unemployment rate fall to 7.7% from 8.1%.
