The Indian tech industry is in for a rude awakening in the near future.
As India’s tech industry continues to grow, so will its share of world market share.
This is what happened last year when the country overtook China in terms of number of smartphone apps and downloads.
By the end of the year, India’s share of the global market was just over one-third, according to market research firm Statista.
This was the biggest leap since the advent of the Internet.
While the country may still be behind China and India in terms, its share has jumped in a big way in the past year, according the research firm Gartner.
India now occupies second place behind China in the global smartphone app market.
It has also overtaken Germany in terms to number of apps downloaded, according a Gartners report.
According to Statista, over 80 percent of Indian smartphone apps are developed in the country.
That is an enormous leap compared to the global average of 25 percent.
Garters says the trend is not going to slow down anytime soon.
It says the number of Indian apps downloaded is set to surge in the coming years.
But as per the report, this will only be happening in the next two to three years.
Gartners’ Marko Vliet is a market researcher who tracks the trends of global app markets.
He told Quartz that India’s rise in the smartphone app world will accelerate over time.
The company predicts that the Indian market will have a total of over 20 billion smartphone apps by 2021.
